Communication: Everyone is expected to communicate as soon as possible and not use aggressive language. If we fail to communicate properly this can lead to conflict within the team. To prevent this from happening we all need to be respectful and honest when communicating.
Meetings: When having a team meeting everyone is expected to join or if they have a valid excuse someone is expected to fill the person in on what their part in the project will be. When you are late for a meeting or you have technical issues you should let the other members know in advance. Not showing up with no valid reason can cause conflict within the team as everyone would get inpatient.
Planning and deadlines: Members are expected to respect the deadlines and to deliver to the rightcontext of planning. When a member has trouble meeting the deadline it can be extended to help the member if he or she has a problem. Without a valid excuse, this can lead the whole team to fall behind on the planning as they can’t continue.
Did we experience a conflict that we had to solve?
Yes, one team member did not deliver his part of the project within the deadline. He also did not show up to the team meeting and did not communicate anything to us. As a team, we decided to send him a message of everything he missed in the team meeting and what his part of the project will be. During the time we kept on sending reminders about the deadlines and what is expected. A day before the deadline I sent the member a personal message asking if he is having trouble and if I can help him with his part. I did not receive any message back and ended up doing his part of the project. We decided as a team to give the member a yellow card.
How would i improve?
For starters i would make sure everyone including myself understand what the task is about and what is expected from us. This way we can properly make a planning and devide the work. To prevent people from missing the deadlines, I would suggest making reminders send out to everyone a few days ahead and also checking up with everyone and their process. This way we can make sure the project stays up to date and we can complete it efficiently.
